- Thanks to Gert Nolze (BAM Berlin), I have generated
a new spacegroup file, which contains more than twice of
different spacegroup settings compared to the old one.
- BGMN comes with an automated switch-off algorithm
for low phase content/bad data. This has been improved on
level 3.5.0. In following, the "LIMIT" terms in
the bgmn.cfg file will be removed, they will be replaced
by advanced internal generated Laue-group dependent values.
- BGMNwin now comes with a database of structures
(all structures from
www.bgmn.de/download-structures.html),
BGMNwin is able to superimpose a line pattern of a structure
of this database ("Database Lines") over the refined pattern.
This is a great feature for quant analysis.
- A new example of a 50/50 mixture of Olivine and Quartz
was added.
The bgmn related packages remain unchanged.
- Sep 18 2004, level 3.4.33: Using the
E(p1,p2,...)= feature, the

was wrong in some cases. Was fixed on this level.

- Aug 13 2003, level 3.4.19: Emergency fix, level 3.4.18 did not run at
all.
Some of the example structure files (in particular such with
underscore in their names) define wrong content variables
(variables containing underscores), this was fixed.

From now on, all EXEs (including Linux) will be compiled using
P6/i686 code generating/optimizing switches.
- Dec 20 2002, level 3.4.6: A huge of changes on INDEX.
Now, the BGMN related programs including INDEX are near to the
release, probably. In following, the
indexing example page and the demo data
K2Cr2O7
were renovated.
From now on, the Linux EXEs will be compiled using RedHat 8.0
as installed right from the box. Hopefully, this increases the acceptance
of the Linux versions by foreign users.
- Dec 10 2002: The CCP14 mirrored sites do not properly reflect the original
content since months. Therefore, I have omitted these links.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
- Dec 6 2002, level 3.4.5: Some minor bugfixes. Usability was extended
until Mar 2003.

this days).
- Nov 17 2002, level 3.4.3: Changed my Linux to SuSE 8.1. The new GCC 3.2
optimizes for up-to-date processors. Especially INDEX will run faster.
The former compiler failed while high-level optimizing the INDEX code.
Plus, there was some improvement of INDEX.
- Nov 5 2002: Updated to level 3.4.2. Some optimizations, minor changes
to index.exe.
- Oct 15 2002: While (and after) trying the
SDPDRR-2 indexing part,
there was much progress to the INDEX program. Work is not finished/at
least not checked. But I will be out of home for 3 weeks, so I
set online this as level 3.4.1.
- Oct 5 2002: Probably, all files at the download area were out of
function for one week. Sorry for the inconvenience. There
was a huge of changes in this week. Now, a new version
line starts at 3.4.0. Some parts of the code were redesigned
for a more clean/more optimized algorithm. As already
mentioned: Now there is a keyword SYNCHROTRON. But level 3.4.0
includes more:
- Input of patterns in GSAS *.gsa format (restricted possibilities).
- EFLECH is able to handle synchrotron data. This was the main
reason for changing large parts of the code.
- And, R. Kleeberg has supported 31 new structures.
- Sep 30 2002: Emergency fix to level 3.3.34a. All versions since
3.3.32 were unable for refining parameters as given in atomic
positions. R. Kleeberg was on conferences for two weeks and
found out today in the morning. Thanks!
- Sep 29 2002, BGMN level 3.3.34: Some optimizations. For example,
a LeBail fit on synchrotron data (9000 data points, 2400
lines) runs now in two hours. Using level 3.3.32 and before,
this would need multiple days. Well, some more versions will
follow in near future.
- Sep 26 2002, BGMN level 3.3.33: Some bugs fixed. Some optimizations.
A new SAV file entry
SYNCHROTRON
was introduced, which should allow BGMN/EFLECH/INDEX to handle
such data. BGMN was therefore optimized for handling data sets
with large peak numbers.
- Sep 22 2002, BGMN level 3.3.32: Some bugs fixed. Some optimizations.
Some improvement in the beta status of EFLECH/INDEX:
ignore
is a new feature.

while was added as
a built-in function.

- Jun 20 2002, level 3.3.28: A bug in the
cat
function was
fixed.

the final beta prior to the release 1.0.
- Jun 11 2002, Boulder/Colorado: Reinhard Kleeberg won the Reynolds Cup contest
as organized by the Clay Mineral Society, Chevron Texaco and the US
Geological Survey. The task was quant analysis of 3 samples containing
10 non-clay minerals plus 4 clay minerals in different weight
compositions. Place 2 was reached by Reiner Dohrmann (Bundesanstalt
für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe, Germany),
who uses BGMN/Autoquan too.
- Jun 6 2002: Usability was extended until Sep 30 2002.
From now on, a new JAVA windowed version called BGMNwin will
be added. It's initial level is 0.91 Beta. It needs at minimum
Java 1.3.0. For Windows users, a self-extracting installer is
available. Users of Linux and OS/2 must install BGMNwin simply
by unpacking it to any path.
Actual level is 3.3.27.
- Apr 22 2002: The structure description of disordered dickite was set
online.
Now, 5 models of disordered layer silicates are online:
Biotite1mf, chloritfxbg, Dickitedis, Kaolinitedis, Musc1md.
For a discussion of our disorder models see
Rietveld Analyis of Disordered Layer
Silicates

on Feb 24.
- Feb 24 2002, level 3.3.21: Usability was extended to Jun 2002.

an experimental level. As an additional feature, Optimal Experimental
Design is now enabled in the DEMO version!
- Dec 23 2001, level 3.3.18: An internal design fault was corrected.
Thereby, some hidden/unknown consecutive bugs may become fixed.
And, there was some progress to the beta status of EFLECH.

for all programs. This will affect EFLECH in major cases. But,
this may affect the BGMN results in minor cases, too.
