The current version of the SnB program is SnB v2.1.
This version contains
- new algorithmic options,
- a user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI),
- provisions for computing normalized structure-factor magnitudes via
the GUI, and
- molecular visualization and editing capabilities.
This version of SnB has been tuned to improve the performance of the critical
structure determination routine. The program is available for a variety
of platforms, including
- SGI IRIX,
- Compaq Alpha OSF,
- Sun Solaris,
- IBM AIX, and
- Intel Linux.
It is also available for a variety of multiprocessing
environments. Information regarding specific system requirements
for installation can be found in the README file
contained within the distributed tar files.
SnB v2.1 is distributed free to academic and other nonprofit users.
Commercial users must pay a license fee of $2000 or the difference between
$2000 and the fee previously paid for a version earlier than 2.0. Since
development and support of SnB v1.5 has been phased out, v1.5 is
now available to all users free of charge. Potential users of v1.5 are
warned, however, that this version does not properly handle peaks that
fall on special positions.
