D2B has produced more publications than any other ILL machine, with the exception of the older D1B.
Of the 50 most cited ILL publications in the almost 10,000 produced since the beginning of the Institut, 9 were produced by D2B/D1A.
The most cited ILL publication ever (by a wide margin) was the D2B paper with Bell labs on the charge transfer mechanism as a means of doping oxide superconductors. This lead to the successful search for new oxide layer superconductors.
Since the rebuild of the ILL reactor in 1991-93, the most cited ILL publication, a Phys. Rev. Letters paper on the structure of a GMR oxide, was also produced by D2B.
