display modes

In the menu [MODE] you can switch ON/OFF several display modes. The mode bar on the bottom indicates active modes in white color and inactive ones in gray. Note that some modes are mutually exclusive. So for example if you want to measure distances, automatically the rotation mode, shift mode and angle measuring mode are switched off. See also MOUSE USAGE to see the mouse function in the different modes.

Rotate
The structure can be rotated (in realtime if CPU is fast enough) around the x-, y-, and z-axis.

Shift-Zoom
The image is shifted over the screen or the zooming factor is changed.

Perspective
Switches between orthonormal projection and perspective projection.

Stereo
Switches between mono display and stereo pair (parallel view).

Bonds
Switches display of bonds on/off (if any)

Polyhedra
Switches display of coordination polyhedra on/off (if any)

Cellbox
Switches display of unit cell box on/off.

Labels
Switches display of labels as given in the input file on/off.

Numbers
Shows the serial number of atoms in sequence of their generation. These are used to specify coordination polyhedra.

Distance
Measure the distance of two atoms by clicking at them.

Angle
Measure the angle between three atoms by clicking at them.

Cut Atom
make clicked atoms invisible. They may later be made visible again.

economy
speeds up rotations by simplifying the drawing during rotation

individual bonds
when checked JSV displays all bonds using their individual color and style instead of the global settings.
