Welcome to the Pyrobaculum aerophilum proteomics webpage. In spring 1999, the x-ray crystallography group at BBRP/LLNL joined a common effort of several laboratories to determine the structures of all the proteins in the proteome of the hyperthermophile Pyrobaculum aerophilum. The other players in this joint effort are the DOE/MBI laboratory of David Eisenberg at UCLA, the protein crystallography group at LANL, structure groups at LBNL, and Ted Baker's group at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. The original work on the genome of the bacterium was done by Sorel Fitz-Gibbon at UCLA and Caltech.
On this website we want to give a short
overview of the project, give some general hints on how to
perform the experiments involved in the structure determination
and provide a few links to webpages with further information on
the bacterium and the project.
