What were the "hot" ILL papers ?
Click on
Display All Papers. Clicking the small square beside the rank number will plot citations
for that paper as a function of year. Clicking the title of the paper will display an abstract of
its contents when that is available. You may be able to download an electronic copy of the paper by filling in a
search form like this and then clicking on the DOI number if found.
As well as "total cites", "expected cites" is given; papers in
popular journals such as PRL and Nature are expected to have many more cites, and the ratio of
total/expected cites is also a useful measure of impact.
Note that you can order the table according to year, author etc
(the default is "total cites") and you can set a minimum citation threshold to find the number of
papers with at least that number of citations. You can then "save search results" for this subset
of papers and then "Analyse Results" for this subset. You can also mark individual papers to create subsets.
Out of 7361 papers with an ILL author between 1981-2003, only 146 were cited at least 100
times, with the highest impact paper cited over 1000 times. This seems disappointing, but is
in fact normal. Below we list the 31 ILL papers
with more than 250 citations, preceded by the number of citations and the (ILL instrument).
