Abstract:
[(CH3)(2)C(C5H4)(2)]Fe-2(mu-CO)(2)(CO)(2) (1) has been synthesized from 2,2-dicyclopentadienyl propane and pentacarbonyliron in 26% yield. The crystal and molecular structure of 1 has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The molecule has the expected carbonyl-bridged structure with a cis configuration of the cyclopentadienyl rings. The Fe-Fe distance of 2.484 Angstrom is the shortest one reported to date for ring-bridged dicyclopentadienyl di-iron tetracarbonyl complexes.
