Introduction to the Plot Widget as Used in Motplot

When you plot a graph in Motplot it appears in a separate window. This window contains a MENUBAR, a plot area and a LABEL. The menubar contains some menus which allow you to operate on the graph. The label shows the current position of the mouse pointer in the coordinate system of the graph. The area between which shows the graph is a PlotWidget. This widget was specially written for use in Motplot and other programs at Daresbury. In Motplot Plotwidgets always appear in this packaged form.

The various options in the menus of the menubar allow manipulations of the graph. It may be saved to a file, printed directly to a printer, expanded or magnified. The text, colours, fonts and sizes of the labels can also be changed. In future releases it will be possible to change the tick marking and other properties of axes.

More information about the features available may be found by choosing the other items in the help menu.
